It has come to our attention that members have been registering to BestTechie.net and other Tech Forums and PMing members with links to malware-infected sites. DO NOT CLICK ON LINKS FROM SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW! We are making every effort to track down and ban such members. If you receive such a Private Message, please forward it to an Admin immediately. Also, if you discover a post that seems questionable, please alert an Admin or Mod as well. The security of our members is of utmost importance to us.

Good advice!! NO ONE should click links sent to them without knowing what they are, and even if they know what they are, and who they come from, care should be taken as you view them. Links can look legit but with all the scamming going on out there, you can't be too careful. I got a nasty piece of malware once, because I thought that a codec install was needed, and it turned into a mess, which rock fixed for me
Good Luck and be careful my friends

Thanks Jeff: I got one of those PM's, but you must have removed it and the offending user yesterday when you either saw it happen yourself, or had it reported to you! Good Job - Keep up the good work!!!

AVG Technologies has released AVG LinkScanner, now a separate product.
It's been known for years that the web is the distribution mechanism for the large majority of malware. While e-mail is still heavily used to lure users, the e-mail contains links to the web, not attached malware. LinkScanner pre-screens web sites as you surf, looking for malicious activity. = http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,23455...S_042109_STORY2
