program specific volume control? for mac os x snow leopard 10.6.4

Is there any way to get program specific volume control on my mac?

Most audio programs have their own volume control. What apps are you using that don't?

firefox - sometimes i stumble upon websites that have sounds that you can't turn off - back in the days without adblocker an ad with sound once scared the heck outta me (there was this one with a grim reaper laughing hysterically - well you can't tell it's a grim reaper when you hear it =P)

diablo 2 - you can't throttle the sound on the mac version for the login site and the battle net screen

that's just 2 out of the top of my heads - there's others where you can either turn it off entirely or have it at a default set volume
