I have been fooling with vnc4server, and I have been hit with a problem: If you look at the xstartup file for my sessions, it will say:
#!/bin/sh # Uncomment the following two lines for normal desktop: # unset SESSION_MANAGER # exec /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc [ -x /etc/vnc/xstartup ] && exec /etc/vnc/xstartup [ -r $HOME/.Xresources ] && xrdb $HOME/.Xresources xsetroot -solid grey vncconfig -iconic & x-terminal-emulator -geometry 80x24+10+10 -ls -title "$VNCDESKTOP Desktop" & x-window-manager &
Of course, it tells ya to UNCOMMENT
# Uncomment the following two lines for normal desktop: # unset SESSION_MANAGER # exec /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc
If I do, I get a rootweave (grey) desktop and I cant see/do anything with it like this. However, if I do somthing like this:
buddy@heather:~/.vnc$ vncserver :6 New 'heather:6 (buddy)' desktop is heather:6 Starting applications specified in /home/buddy/.vnc/xstartup Log file is /home/buddy/.vnc/heather:6.log buddy@heather:~/.vnc$
Then I go and open a desktop: buddy-baker.us:6 I get a terminal window, and I was told that I could then run gnome-session: I do that, and get:
