Apple has released Mac OS X 10.6.6, a major update that improves the operating system's stability, compatibility and security. In addition to support for the new Mac App Store which allows users to purchase and install applications to their system, the update closes a variety of security holes in the operating system.

At the time of this posting, Apple's "About the Mac OS X v10.6.6 Update" knowledge base article has yet to be published. The Apple security updates page does not yet list the latest version, nor does the Apple Support Downloads site.
