Facebook virus blocking AVG updates/scans Virus?

I was automatically emailed a link to a facebook utility. I opened it and it automatically forwarded the link to all facebook friends - I am concerned it is some sort of virus link as from then my AVG scan and updates won't function. Any ideas?
