In light of quite a few people recently installing Ubuntu, I thought I'd share this link that you may or may not have known about.
Unofficial Ubuntu 5.04 Starter Guide
This page pretty much covers everything you would need/want your system to do, that it doesn't do "right out of the box".
From adding repositories to enabling all multimedia support (mp3, avi, etc. etc.) to installing java and flash player for Firefox (including the creation of symlinks, so "it just works"..no fuss, no muss)...the list goes on but you get the point...A lot of good info that applies to linux in general, not just Ubuntu.
