Officials: Might be time to lift ban on hospital cell calls

MUNSTER, Ind. (AP) — Some health officials in northwest Indiana and Chicago say it might be time for area hospitals to lift their long-held bans on cell-phone calls, citing research that shows the phones do not interfere with medical equipment.

don't know if it's true or not but it would make a good saturday night live scetch. I can see it now. guy is told that he can't use his cell phone in hospital. guy still makes several calls. another guy in backround has heart attach during calls. one time the doctors try to zap the man back to life but fail. guy in background goes back to normal after call is finished.

actually, many phones still DO interfere with the equipment. My neighbor works in hospitals, and they are constantly checking with them. If they decided to lift the ban, can you say "lawsuits?"
