I don't know the battery life, but the PSP has a bigger screen. Also, don't know much about Cowon, but they have a portable media device that plays video also:

nokia 770 (bigger screen and more functions then a PSP) with WiFI and Bluetooth you don't need lots of storage..

The PSP battery life is rather poor, and probably only lasts a few hours if you are playing a game or watching a movie. Also, you would have to buy a memory card since the one that comes with the PSP can hardly hold 5 songs.
Other than that, it's great.
