Hello all i am new to usign GIMP. I was using ADOBE PHOTOSHOP at school but now I need to desgin something at home and I do not got $500 for adobe. What i need is a list of short cut keys for gimp, how you feather, and where is the eye droper in the gimp. Also how do I get the side bar where it says what layer i am on?

for your sidebar have it display the layers panel, the eyedropper is in the toolbar panel However, this might help you understand The Gimp a little more.

i've got a feeling if he can't afford $500 for Adobe, then he might not be able to afford $400 for it either.

Course I could be wrong.

For that price it would be worth it to scrounge around and get the cash. $500 for Photoshop is too much but $400 for the creative suite is worth a little debt if that is what he is going to school for. It is just a good deal you gotta admit.

not denying that.
but still................

money is tight in a lot of places around the world, that $400 or $500 could go to something more important, like say rent, food, car payment, etc.... All in all the pros don't really outweigh the cons.

I am notr going to school for that. I had to fix some pics for school, i ran out of time so i want to do it at home so I downloaded the Gimp that is all. I can afford it i just dont want it. Because in a few months they have a new one out so what is the point!\
